Ukraine’s High Anti-Corruption Court has ruled to forfeit over 8.2 million UAH (approximately $200,000 USD) in illicit assets linked to sitting Member of Parliament Lyudmyla Marchenko. Ruling in favor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, the court concluded that six residential properties and a luxury SUV were acquired without legitimate sources of income.

The civil forfeiture lawsuit targets a portfolio of high-value property acquired between 2021 and 2023:

Real Estate: 5 apartments and property rights to an additional residential unit.
Vehicles: A premium Toyota Land Cruiser SUV.

The case was built on independent evidence gathered by prosecutors alongside investigative material uncovered by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine during broader pre-trial proceedings.

Although legal title to the assets was registered under the names of Marchenko’s father and her brother’s domestic partner, anti-corruption investigators established that the MP was the actual buyer, beneficial owner, and user of the property.

A financial analysis of the lawmaker, her immediate family, and close relatives demonstrated that none of the registered parties possessed sufficient lawful income to justify purchasing the real estate or the vehicle.

The ruling marks another major step under Ukraine’s civil asset forfeiture legislation targeting unexplained wealth among public officials. Marchenko has 30 days from the release of the court’s full written opinion to lodge an appeal with the High Anti-Corruption Court Appeal Chamber.
