The Economic Security Bureau (ESBU) of Ukraine has dismantled a criminal group that orchestrated the mass production of forged government documents. During the special operation, law enforcement officers seized professional equipment; six suspects have been detained, and 15 individuals have been formally notified of suspicion.
The perpetrators established a full-cycle production line for counterfeit items, including fake passports, university diplomas, driver’s licenses, and real estate documents. The quality of the forgeries allowed for the seamless bypassing of border security checks.
According to the investigation, the forged Ukrainian passports were used by foreign nationals to travel freely through European Union countries and to enter Canada. This activity posed significant risks to international security and the effectiveness of migration controls.
During authorized search operations at the production and storage sites, ESBU agents seized a significant volume of evidence. The confiscated items include:
Professional printing and production equipment;
Seals, stamps, and official letterheads of government agencies;
Firearms;
Vehicles used by the suspects;
Cash.
«The dismantling of this group is a significant result in the fight against the underground document market, which is used for illegal migration and other criminal activities,» the agency stated.
The pre-trial investigation is currently ongoing to identify all involved parties and distribution channels. All suspects are facing charges related to the forgery of documents, which carries severe penalties under the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Law enforcement officers are continuing their analysis of the seized client database to prevent the further use of these invalid credentials.
