The family of Volodymyr Poberezhnyi, Head of the Lutsk Department of the State Tax Service (STS), has acquired 13 real estate properties and a luxury fleet of vehicles worth over 20 million UAH in recent years. In 2026 alone, the official’s wife and 21-year-old son registered assets totaling nearly 12 million UAH. Meanwhile, court records reveal that the tax official himself is currently implicated in criminal proceedings involving an alleged tax evasion scheme.
The official’s son, 21-year-old Valeriy Poberezhnyi—a Kyiv university student who also works as a DJ—disappeared from his father’s asset declarations immediately after reaching adulthood. At age 18, he registered a sole proprietorship (FOP) for design services, and by 2025, he became the owner of three properties in a brand-new, business-class residential complex in downtown Lviv. His purchases included:
An apartment of nearly 50 sq. m (official declared price — 3.2 million UAH, market value — over 4 million UAH);
Commercial premises purchased for 330,000 UAH;
A parking space in an underground garage.
A few months ago, Valeriy Poberezhnyi also bought real estate in Lutsk, acquiring a 69 sq. m space (presumably for commercial use) and an accompanying parking spot for approximately 1.8 million UAH.
«I am not giving any comments,» the official’s son responded when journalists questioned the source of his funds.
The tax chief’s wife, Viktoriia Poberezhna, acquired nearly 5 million UAH in assets in 2026 alone. Specifically, she invested in the same Lviv residential complex as her son, buying an 85 sq. m non-residential property and a parking space for 2 million UAH. In March, she also became the owner of a 2025 Volkswagen vehicle, which carries an average market price of 2.7 million UAH.
Viktoriia Poberezhna has been registered as a sole proprietor since 2012. According to her husband’s 2025 asset declaration, she earned 4.7 million UAH from running a fitness center. The 153 sq. m gym premises actually belong to the tax official himself. However, investigative journalists discovered that only three trainers work at the gym, and it sees no customer queues. Experts and rival gym owners interviewed noted that generating nearly 5 million UAH in revenue under such conditions is unrealistic. Ms. Poberezhna declined to comment on her business operations.
In the fall of 2024, the official’s mother, Valentyna Pylypivna, purchased a 68 sq. m apartment in a premium-class residential complex in Lutsk, valued at a minimum of 2.8 million UAH. She also owns a house near Lutsk, and in 2025, she registered a sole proprietorship for real estate leasing. Her financial ties to her son’s career date back to 2014, when she purchased a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado—a vehicle Volodymyr Poberezhnyi has been driving ever since.
The Head of the Lutsk Department of the STS personally owns a townhouse in a gated community near Lutsk worth nearly 2.5 million UAH. Additionally, the couple owns a 70 sq. m apartment in downtown Lutsk purchased in 2020. While it was declared at just over 1 million UAH, current market prices for similar renovated apartments in the area range between 4 and 5 million UAH.
