Ukraine’s National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has uncovered significant discrepancies in the financial disclosures of Petro Nosa, a high-ranking forestry official from the Zakarpattia region. A comprehensive audit revealed that the official failed to declare family assets and property worth nearly 10 million UAH (approximately $250,000–$400,000 USD).
According to the official NACP investigation, the Zakarpattia forester omitted several major real estate properties and vehicles from his annual asset declaration. These assets were systematically registered under the names of close relatives to bypass public scrutiny.
The list of hidden, undeclared assets includes:
A 900 sq. m land plot featuring a fully operational car service station;
A 95 sq. m cafe currently operated by the official’s wife for commercial purposes;
A 1,200 sq. m land plot with a newly built, unregistered residential house (registered to his father-in-law but used by his wife);
Two SUVs — a 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and a 2016 Toyota Hilux, both registered to close family members.
This is not the first time Petro Nosa has drawn the attention of law enforcement agencies. The forestry official is already a person of interest in an ongoing criminal investigation.
«The prior criminal suspicion against Nosa stems from the illegal construction of a private luxury cottage equipped with a traditional Carpathian spa tub, built entirely on unlawfully seized protected forest land.»
The NACP is currently preparing to transfer the audit findings to state law enforcement agencies to initiate criminal proceedings for intentional false asset declaration. If convicted, the official faces substantial fines, community service, or a prison sentence, alongside a ban from holding public office.
