Political party “Holos”
Main information
“Holos” was founded in 2019 on the initiative of Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, frontman of the band “Okean Elzy”. “Holos” has branches in all regions except for the temporarily occupied Crimea. It is in opposition to the current government. Since 2021, it has been considered an ally in voting with the presidential party “Servant of the People”.

Party history.
- On February 10, 2015, the political party “Platform of Initiatives” was registered. The party’s chairman was Yulia Klymenko.
- The political party “Platform of Initiatives” took part in the local elections of 2015, but then gained only 0.9% of the vote.
- The creation of the Golos party was announced on May 16, 2019, with a presentation on Starokyivska Hill in Kyiv. Its leader was Ukrainian rock musician, composer, and former MP of the VI convocation (2007-2008) Svyatoslav Vakarchuk.
- Given that Vakarchuk did not have time to register the party before the early parliamentary elections, it was decided to rename and re-register the Platform of Initiatives party as the Voice party.
- OnMay 21, 2019, the party received official re-registration documents.
- OnJuly 24, 2019, the party’s congress elected Svyatoslav Vakarchuk as the party’s chairman.
- OnAugust 29, 2019, the Voice faction was created in the parliament. Vakarchuk became the leader of the Voice faction.
- OnMarch 11, 2020, the Voice congress elected Kira Rudyk as the new leader of the party.
- OnJune 11, 2020, Vakarchuk resigned his parliamentary mandate and announced his withdrawal from the Verkhovna Rada.
- On July 17, 2020, the party announced its move to opposition to the government.
- On October 10, 2020, Vakarchuk’s seat in the Verkhovna Rada was taken by military officer Andriy Sharaskin, a scientist, director, and actor.
- In December 2021, Oleksandra Ustinova became the head of the Voice faction in the Verkhovna Rada, replacing Yaroslav Zhelezniak. The Voice party then accused Spravedlyvist and the President’s Office of raiding the faction.In February 2022,the State Bureauof Investigation announced that it was investigating possible embezzlement of budget funds by the Voice party leadership. The amount involved was over UAH 1 million. Criminal proceedings were opened under two articles. Kira Rudyk, the leader of Voice , accused the Presidential Office of fabricating the case.In 2022, with the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, two MPs from Voice, Roman Kostenko and Roman Lozynskyi, left for the front.

Finance and scandals:
The 2019 parliamentary election campaign officially cost the party “Voice” UAH 105 million, second only to the Radical Party of Oleh Lyashko and the “Servant of the People” in terms of expenses . One list holder in the Rada cost over UAH 6 million, the most expensive of all the parties that entered the parliament.
