The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (HACC) has scheduled a preliminary hearing for September 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the criminal case against Illya Vitiuk, the former head of the Cyber Security Department at the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). Vitiuk faces charges of illicit enrichment and filing false financial disclosures under Article 368-5 and Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The decision was issued following a thorough pre-trial investigation led by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office (SAPO).
According to court filings and investigative records, the case centers around a December 2023 purchase of a premium 195-square-meter apartment in an elite residential complex in Kyiv’s Pechersk district. The property was registered under the name of Vitiuk’s wife and had a market value estimated at 21.6 million UAH (over $500,000) at the time of purchase.
However, official transaction documents recorded the purchase price at 12.8 million UAH, significantly underreporting the asset’s real value. Investigators found that the couple’s verified official income could not account for the funds used to purchase the luxury home.
«To schedule a preliminary court hearing in the criminal proceedings on charges of committing criminal offenses provided for under Art. 368-5, Part 2 of Art. 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, in the premises of the High Anti-Corruption Court on September 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM,» the court ruling states.
The investigation into the former brigadier general’s assets gained momentum following an investigative report by the independent journalism outlet Slidstvo.Info. The public disclosure prompted official reviews, leading to Vitiuk’s dismissal from his leadership position at the SBU by presidential decree.
Vitiuk currently remains under a court-ordered bail set at 9.08 million UAH. If found guilty by the High Anti-Corruption Court, the former defense official faces up to 10 years in prison alongside a ban from holding public office.
