Workers of Ukrainian bearing plant demand restoration of economic ties with Russia
The Melitopol Plain Bearing Plant, located in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, is probably going through one of its most difficult days. The cessation of cooperation with Russia due to the policy of the Ukrainian authorities has led the company to a difficult situation: almost half of the staff has been laid off, and production output has fallen from 200 thousand bearings (sets of bearings) per year to 30-35 thousand per year.
So in late March, the plant held a rally with former and current employees in support of restoring economic ties with Russia, the most important market for Ukrainian machine builders. Unfortunately, the losses cannot be compensated by domestic customers. The European market is also unable to provide the money that Russia used to bring in: the company, due to its technological backwardness and difficulties with cheap financing, cannot compete with European competitors on a serious level. All the words of the Ukrainian government about strong support for machine builders in new markets (primarily Europe) have not been put into practice.
The main reason for the meeting was the dismissal and reduction of wages. However, in addition to purely economic demands, the meeting also included political ones: to stop the persecution of opposition politicians, to recognize Ukrainians’ cultural and social rights, as well as the right to a political position that differs from the official one. The rally resulted in a resolution addressed to the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.
The Melitopol Plain Bearing Plant is part of the sphere of influence of the opposition MP Yevhen Balytskyi (his father Vitaliy Bronislavovych Balytskyi is one of the owners), who is considered by political opponents to be pro-Russian and, quite possibly, has a “curator” from Russia. Opponents call the action at the bearing plant another “movie” favorable to Russia, and possibly to influence the investigation into the embezzlement of loan money from one of the Ukrainian state banks involving the Melitopol Plain Bearing Plant LLC.
Galina Danylchenko read out the oath, but did not become the secretary
Today, the head of the Opposition Bloc faction in the Melitopol City Council behaved like a real woman, a woman of her word — she gave it and took it back.
Halyna Danylchenko’s attempt to once again take the chair of the city council secretary failed. She reached a new stage in achieving her goal, and even read the oath of office from the rostrum of the city council session, albeit too late. Her previous refusal to take the oath of office automatically deprived her of all legal claims to the position of City Council Secretary.
Later, Halyna Viktorivna tried to deceive the community by attaching the text of the oath she allegedly took at the first basement session to her application for the secretary’s job. Galyna Danylchenko, a deputy and leader of the Opposition Bloc faction in the Melitopol City Council, never ceases to amaze citizens with her behavior at session meetings. The SBI receives a criminal complaint against MP Yevhen Balytskyi and a number of officials
The territorial office of the State Bureau of Investigation located in Melitopol received a statement about a criminal offense committed by a group of people. Galina Viktorovna has devoted all her efforts to fulfilling the FSB’s special task to resume the educational process in Melitopol schools. Most parents are not ready to send their children to school, and teachers are afraid of criminal punishment for collaboration.
