The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) has officially identified discrepancies in the asset disclosures of Cherkasy Mayor Anatolii Bondarenko. According to a public whistleblower investigation, the assets and real estate used by the official’s family significantly exceed his reported official income, sparking widespread local concern.
The central focus of the inquiry is a luxury estate spanning approximately 890 square meters, situated directly on the banks of the Dnipro River. Construction of the massive waterfront property, with an estimated value of 28 million UAH, began in 2022. The development coincided with the implementation of martial law, a period when public access to official e-declarations was temporarily suspended.
Beyond the large-scale riverfront construction, analysts and civic activists have highlighted several other high-value assets and financial connections surrounding the mayor’s inner circle:
A premium Lexus vehicle currently utilized by the official’s family;
Close business ties involving a stake in a company generating billions in annual turnover;
Personal and financial relations with a prominent local property developer benefiting from municipal connections.
The combination of these undisclosed assets led investigators to question the accuracy and completeness of the mayor’s financial reporting.
Journalists and anti-corruption advocates are continuing their detailed audit of the mayor’s financial background to prepare formal submissions for law enforcement agencies. Investigators indicated that additional evidence regarding undisclosed properties will be released in upcoming reports.
Neither Anatolii Bondarenko nor the Cherkasy City Council has issued an official public response regarding the NACP findings or the reported property discrepancies.
