Olha Buleiko, a judge of the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, finds herself at the center of another public scandal in the village of Zazymia, Kyiv Oblast, following a police report implicating her in the alleged theft of high-end outerwear.
A local resident filed a complaint with the Brovary District Police Department in February 2024 reporting missing property. According to the claimant, on the evening of February 19, while visiting guests in Zazymia, her fur-trimmed down jacket valued at approximately $2,000 and gloves worth 2,500 UAH disappeared from the residence.
The victim claims the items went missing immediately after the arrival of the homeowner’s ex-wife—Grand Chamber Supreme Court Judge Olha Buleiko.
Despite the official report to law enforcement, no criminal proceedings were opened regarding the incident. The claimant and her legal representatives appealed the decision through formal channels; however, according to them, this did not alter the status of the investigation. Currently, there are no official statements from the police or Judge Buleiko regarding the matter.
This incident marks the continuation of an ongoing dispute surrounding real estate in the very same village.
Earlier, the Kyiv Court of Appeal reviewed a property division case between Olha Buleiko and her former spouse. The dispute centered on a nearly 300-square-meter residential house and two land plots in Zazymia, Brovary District.
Initially, the judge acknowledged the property as joint ownership and offered to pay her ex-husband a settlement of 4.05 million UAH (based on an overall valuation of 8.1 million UAH). However, an independent expert evaluation presented by her ex-husband valued the estate at 14.84 million UAH, raising his 50% share value to roughly 7.42 million UAH.
Following the breakdown of negotiations, Judge Buleiko altered her claims, demanding that the entire estate be recognized as her sole personal property.
“The positions of both parties are inconsistent and contradictory. This dispute appears to be a struggle not only over the legal status of the property, but also for control over an indivisible asset and its actual market price,” the Kyiv Court of Appeal noted in its ruling.
Ultimately, the appellate court upheld the equal (50/50) division of the estate between the former spouses. Both the property litigation and the recent theft allegation continue to draw significant public attention regarding the integrity of Supreme Court justices in Ukraine.
