Artem Yas, head of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor’s Office, and his wife, Anna Yas, an employee of the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI), own substantial property, the latest crossovers and considerable cash savings, the total of which far exceeds their official annual incomes.

This is evident from an analysis of publicly available data and the official’s declarations, against which journalists and anti-corruption bodies are paying close attention to the family’s lifestyle.
Back in 2020, activists from the civil society organisation ‘Stop Corruption’ staged protests outside the Office of the Prosecutor General over Artem Yas’s alleged lavish lifestyle. At the time, the official was suspected of living in an undeclared flat in Kyiv worth around 5 million hryvnias. Despite this, the prosecutor’s career continued to progress rapidly.
According to official declarations, a number of new properties came into the family’s possession:
Flat in Kyiv: In 2025, the prosecutor declared the right to use, free of charge, a flat measuring 100.2 square metres, which has belonged to his mother-in-law since 2019.
Property near Kyiv: At the end of last October, the official’s wife and children were granted the right to use a 200-square-metre house and land in Bilohorodka, Bucha District. The property is owned by the prosecutor’s father-in-law. According to market estimates, the value of such properties starts at 4.5–5.7 million UAH.
Inheritance in Chernihiv: Artem Yas only declared his own property last year as an inheritance from his father — Oleksandr Yas, a former deputy prosecutor of Chernihiv Oblast. This comprises a 106.9-square-metre flat and 1.28 million hryvnias in financial assistance. In Chernivtsi, however, the official rents a modest 40-square-metre flat.
Particular attention is drawn to the assets of the prosecutor’s wife, Anna Yas, who works at the State Bureau of Investigation. In March 2025, she acquired ownership rights to two flats and a parking space in an unfinished building in Sofiivska Borshchahivka, with a total area of over 98 square metres. The total investment commitment amounts to approximately 1.46 million hryvnias, which is a surprisingly low price per square metre even for the capital’s suburbs.
In July of the same year, Anna Yas purchased a BMW X4 xDrive20i crossover (manufactured in 2025) for 2.35 million UAH. The head of the regional prosecutor’s office himself drives a Toyota Land Cruiser 150 (2023) worth over 2 million UAH.
According to their financial statements, the couple’s official annual income amounted to:
Artem Yas’s salary: approximately 1.93 million UAH (including work at the Kyiv City and Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor’s Offices, as well as a relocation allowance).
Anna Yas’s salary: 1.02 million UAH at the State Bureau of Investigation.
At the same time, the family holds 24,000 euros and 87,000 dollars in cash (totalling over 110,000 dollars), whilst their bank accounts hold less than 150,000 UAH. In addition, the couple owns a small portfolio of foreign shares in well-known global companies (Amazon, Uber, BlackRock, etc.).
“The situation regarding the financial status of Artem Yas, head of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor’s Office, and his wife Anna Yas, an employee of the State Bureau of Investigation, demonstrates a typical imbalance between civil servants’ official salaries and the market value of their new assets, which requires a thorough investigation by anti-corruption bodies,” experts note.
The question remains as to the sources of funding for large-scale investments in property and a fleet of vehicles, as declared incomes and cash savings do not always fully cover the market value of the acquired assets.
