The relatives of Ukrainian Member of Parliament Anton Yatsenko control massive assets that rival the fortunes of the country’s prominent billionaires. Specifically, his father-in-law, Ivan Kravchuk—a retiree currently living in a village outside Kyiv with no active business registered to his name—is the official owner of 78 luxury real estate properties. Investigative journalists estimate the total value of these assets, located in Kyiv’s most prestigious districts and the Kyiv Oblast, at approximately 1 billion hryvnias, with a significant portion of the portfolio acquired as gifts.
An analysis of open public registries reveals a very modest business background for Ivan Petrovych Kravchuk. Roughly 20 years ago, he was registered as an individual entrepreneur (FOP) specializing in road freight transport. He also held managerial positions at two companies, Potentsial and Temp. Kravchuk exited the first company in 2008, while the second ceased operations in 2012. Since financial statements for these entities from those years have not survived, verifying their past profitability is virtually impossible.
Despite the lack of active large-scale business operations, the list of real estate registered under Ivan Kravchuk spans 78 individual properties grouped across 31 title deeds.
The MP’s father-in-law holds title to dozens of high-value assets in some of the capital’s most expensive locations. The timeline of these acquisitions highlights several key properties:
9-A Hrushevskoho St.: In August 2010, Kravchuk received 9 properties as gifts, including four apartments with a combined area exceeding 1,000 sq. m. and five parking spaces. On the very same day, he was gifted two commercial spaces totaling approximately 800 sq. m. In February 2011, he acquired a share in a building spanning 6,220 sq. m.
14-A Drahomyrova St.: Throughout 2018–2019, Kravchuk purchased several commercial spaces in a prestigious residential complex, totaling nearly 1,500 sq. m.
8 Yaroslaviv Val St.: In late 2019, he registered ownership of a 650 sq. m. commercial building and a land plot of about 300 sq. m.
Saksahanskoho St.: In August 2010, he acquired a share in commercial premises (approx. 500 sq. m.) and received two parking spaces as a gift.
Kozyn Village: In August 2010, Ivan Kravchuk was gifted a luxury mansion exceeding 1,500 sq. m. along with over a hectare of land.
Journalists attempted to interview Ivan Kravchuk at his residence outside Kyiv. The homeowner declined to comment via the intercom and requested the media crew leave the property. However, his wife, Kateryna Kravchuk, agreed to speak briefly.
When questioned about the origin of her husband’s multi-million-dollar assets—given their 47-year marriage—she offered an unexpected explanation:
«All of this property was gifted to my husband by his mistress.»
In contrast, an investigation by the Bihus.info outlet presents a much more grounded theory. Journalists suggest that the actual buyer and source of the assets may be MP Anton Yatsenko himself, with his relatives serving as proxy owners to bypass asset declarations and financial monitoring.
Anton Yatsenko, whose own asset declarations show no signs of major luxury wealth, distanced himself from his relative’s financial affairs when questioned by journalists.
The lawmaker emphasized that his father-in-law is neither a public servant nor a politician and, therefore, is not subject to mandatory electronic asset declarations. According to the MP, any financial or property matters concerning Ivan Kravchuk remain an entirely private affair.
