Alona Akimova, an obstetrician-gynecologist at the Kyiv Perinatal Center, disclosed tens of thousands of dollars and euros in cash alongside a luxury vehicle, despite reporting an annual official salary of 280,000 UAH. Meanwhile, a charitable foundation owned and managed by her is currently involved in legal proceedings regarding unpaid rent for municipal property.

According to the 2021 asset disclosure of MP Oleksandr Akimov, where Alona Akimova is listed as his spouse, her official annual earnings at the municipal perinatal center totaled 280,672 UAH.
Simultaneously, the disclosure reflects substantial personal liquid assets and high-value property:
$32,000 USD in cash;
€25,000 EUR in cash;
135,000 UAH in cash;
A Mercedes-Benz CL550, valued at 690,000 UAH.
While holding significant savings does not in itself constitute a statutory violation, the discrepancy has prompted public scrutiny regarding the verified sources of these funds—particularly amid ongoing patient feedback regarding alleged out-of-pocket charges for services.
The physician’s civic activities have also drawn attention. Akimova serves as the director and ultimate beneficial owner of the «Mother and Child Support» Charitable Foundation.
In 2024, the Commercial Court of Kyiv ruled that the foundation failed to pay 14,829.83 UAH in lease payments for municipal premises. Open public registers further indicate three active enforcement proceedings pending against the organization.
The contrast between the charity’s unpaid obligations and its director’s substantial cash holdings has sparked public debate. Observers and community advocates are now calling on Akimova to clarify the origin of her declared assets, the tax compliance of her private practice, and the current financial reporting of the foundation.
