The Zhashkiv District Court of Cherkasy Region has found Tamara Karpovych, a member of the Zhashkiv City Council, guilty of intentionally submitting false information in her 2024 financial declaration. According to the court’s ruling, the official must pay a fine of 68,000 UAH.
The lawmaker serves as the owner and director of the local agricultural company «Tikych-Agro.» When submitting her financial report, she omitted 18 land plots, 147,000 UAH held in a bank account, and 944,000 UAH in accrued dividends. However, the document did list 7.47 million UAH in dividends actually received from her own company.
The court case covered only a fraction of the total violations uncovered. An extensive audit conducted by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) revealed significantly larger discrepancies in the official’s financial reporting across prior periods:
2023: Unreported assets and data totaling 8.09 million UAH
2024: Undisclosed income and property totaling 9.78 million UAH
During court proceedings, the council member attributed the omissions in her declarations to severe health complications following a heart attack and denied any intent to conceal assets from oversight authorities. Nevertheless, she ultimately entered a full guilty plea before the trial concluded.
Despite the conviction, the official will continue to serve in her position. The court-imposed restriction banning her from holding certain posts does not extend to elected roles, allowing her to retain her seat on the local council.
Additionally, analysts noted a key detail within the lawmaker’s property disclosures: Tamara Karpovych recorded lease agreements for land plots directly owned by the Zhashkiv City Council itself, where she simultaneously serves as an elected representative of the community.
