Mykola Himon, a judge of the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court of Ukraine, finalized a deal in February 2025 to purchase a 50% stake in a Kyiv apartment from his mother for 3.83 million UAH. Simultaneously, a previously declared 3.12 million UAH personal loan extended to his mother completely disappeared from his latest financial disclosure.

According to the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) public register, the judge’s previous asset declarations listed an active 3.12 million UAH financial claim against his mother. However, the updated filing for 2025 contains no record of this debt.
The public declaration does not clarify the mechanism of the property transaction—specifically, whether the prior loan was offset against the purchase price of the 87.1 sq. meter property or if a separate cash/bank transfer took place.
«How the multi-million loan was settled and in what exact form the financial transaction for the Kyiv real estate was conducted remains undisclosed in the public registry.»
Property registered under the judge’s mother has systematically appeared in his financial reporting for several years:
2019: Himon first declared his mother’s 89 sq. meter apartment in Kyiv under Part 3, Article 46 of the Law «On Prevention of Corruption.»
Subsequent Years: An additional 87.1 sq. meter apartment in the capital appeared in official filings.
Resort Real Estate: Beyond the Kyiv properties, declarations listed a «room» in the Carpathian resort village of Polyanytsya (near Bukovel) valued at 5.13 million UAH.
Public Interest and Transparency Standards
The Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court sits at the apex of Ukraine’s judicial system, making its rulings final and unappealable. Consequently, judges serving on this bench are subject to the highest standards of integrity, financial transparency, and public scrutiny.
Financial transactions involving large sums, private loans, and real estate transfers between close relatives frequently draw the attention of anti-corruption watchdogs to ensure full tax compliance and verify the legitimate origin of funds.
